Default 2018 IS200t becoming IS300?

the refreshed 2018 NX200t will be called NX300 even though the 2.0 turbo carries over. any idea IS will follow the same naming convention?

Maybe the NX will be the genuine pig for the 3.0T?? Just like how they rolled out the 2.0T in the NX first before the IS.

Cuz I do believe the NX is under powered.. only 235 hp with the turbo and 200 hp with the hybrid.

That would be tougher, what with the IS300 AWD already being the IS300. They could rearrange some of the numbers I suppose if they really wanted to, or just call them both the IS300, the IS300 RWD being the 2.0t and the IS300 AWD being the detuned 3.5. Or maybe they'll just kill the IS300 AWD and right the world.

Eh, I like my IS 300. Same engine as the 350 for less money. I don't really miss the ~50 horsepower difference. Though, the 2.0t would have much better MPGs, no doubt.

Just... "right the world" would be to offer the 3.5 liter engine as a mid-level option (like the Q50 "Silver Sport" and its 3.0t) and have a new turbo six as the top-shelf option. (IS 400, anyone?)

A quick tune and you can have the power of the IS350 too. If I was getting a 3IS, I'd probably get the 300 too, haha.

I also agree, the new LS500 engine would be right at home in the 3IS... right at home.

Why can't I have a manual though?

Which tune would you recommend?

i'd probably guess you'll have the following

IS300

IS400 (with the new TT V6)

and NX300

NX300h

RX300

RX300h

RX400 (iffy)

then later the ES300

ES300h

this would line up with MBZ and BMW naming schemes 330i and 440i

The TT V6 will probably be reserved for IS, RC, RX, LC, and LS (maybe a displacement bump for LS) Possibly LX get this too if they still make that.

Doubt NX and ES will get anything beyond a 4 turbo.

Dunno if GS will exist later.
