Default Something unusual

So the other day I was being a hooligan driving around in manual and I downshifted into first, and it slammed on the revlimiter. While I admit it was great as I was catching an RCF, I was under the impression that our cars wouldn't do this. Has anyone else experienced this?

Only if you Fully disengage the Traction Control.

I know that what was unusual is that it did that with traction control on, and even then isn't the computer supposed to prevent such shifts.

not sure if turning off the traction control has any affect on shifts.

the Lexus will not let you shift into a gear that's too low for your speed. the first gear in the 8-speed 350 is really short. if you were already rolling at a decent pace, I doubt if the car really let you shift into first.

p.s. catching an RCF? lol

In cars that don't have Sport+ mode, yes, it does. My IS 300 F Sport, for example, will only bounce off the revlimiter rather than upshift if in manual shift mode and VSC fully off. Discovered it by accident one day, but others on the forum have talked about it before.

OP, were you in Sport+? If so, there you go.

Yes I was in Sport+ and traction control was on. This is why it seems unusual to me because the car shouldn't have shifted into the redline.

I've seen videos where it hit rev limiter, but with Sport or Sport+ and TC off.
(^ that is at about 14:32 if the link doesn't work)

Now, in the video he says it won't slam into the rev limiter "as aggressively" when you have TC on. Since I don't have a car with Sport+ I can't really go test it out. To me it sounds like this implies Sport+ allows you to hit rev limiter, too. Yes?
