2016 200t CPO Questions
Hi,
This is my first post here. I'm looking at a new car to replace my 1994 Mercedes C220. I first looked at Mercedes again, but I wasn't impressed with the new C Class. It's too tinny feeling. Went over to Lexus and liked the feeling of the IS200t, which felt more like my current car. This will be a commuter/highway car, so I don't need anything special, just something comfortable and pleasant to be in. I can wait to buy until about March or April 2017, however. I would prefer to buy a 2016 model CPO at that time. Can I count on there being some 2016s on the CPO market at that point? Right now there are almost none because it's still the current model year. Also, it seems like Lexus hold their value a little better than Mercedes--how much depreciation from brand-new MSRP is fair to expect for a one year old car?
Thanks very much.

Highly doubt for 2016 CPO so soon. Leases average about 2-3 years. Other than that, might be a chance of someone trading in their 2016.
The value of the car would probably be in the ~mid 30K, if there happens to be on in the market.

Thanks. If I were to get into a 2017, what's a standard discount range? I priced out a build on the website, and it says $40,800 (Premium + Blind Spot Assist). $37,500/38? I would also be eligible for a recent grad (law school) discount, if they're running that program at the time I buy. This is my first time buying a new car from a dealership, so I'm learning as I go.

Note at the time, I was not working at Lexus. So I didn't get any special treatment lol

I work at a dealership, and we won't be getting 2017 IS till October-November. And if your planning to buy in March/April 2017, it really depends on the dealership for discount. I got my 2016 IS350, 6,300 off a MSRP of 49,433. And I bought in Jan 2016.

For custom or special order, I've seen some take weeks to months. It really depends on how busy the factory in Japan is running. You can get a better and accurate time frame by contacting a sales manager. In my dealership, our sales manger deals with all special orders. And discount wise... I have no idea. It probably won't be much, since the dealership is making way to get you something YOU want. Rather than trying to selling something already in inventory. But, who knows, every dealership is different.
