Default RC axle back on 3IS

anybody got pictures or clip of an RC axle back installed on their IS? i want to hear how they sound like lol. is it the same as regular RC? For those doing custom quad tips, why don't you just get an RC350s axle back instead of welding a tip. just wondering.

Thanks in advance guys!

This!

This guy is onto something and I don't know why anybody else hasn't noticed/thought the same.
I've been pondering since the RC came out but I'm not looking for quad look at the moment

I'm digging into quad tip looks and probably I can answer your question. In my case, I already have JoeZ and love the sound so welding quad tip is the only option. And it is cheaper, easier than sell current exhaust and get a new one. Plus I am not sure if JoeZ makes RC350 quad tip, at least I do not know that.

By the way, I found CF rear diffuser for quad tip set up. Has anybody had experience with this brand. It looks like replica Aimgain rear diffuser to me: https://www.amazon.com/JCSPORTLINE-C...tline+lexus+is

ahh that's true. of course i would weld a tip too if i already bought an aftermarket one. also it looks like the RC exhausts are more expensive.

I've been wondering the same thing. The Tanabe RC Exhaust sounds way nicer - do RCs sound sportier even stock than IS?

But I'm assuming the hangers or tubes are different sizes so it wouldn't be a simple plug and play.

Top is IS, bottom RC. Love the dual tips.

i think you are comparing the RCF exhaust. the hanger in RCF is spaced out more than IS. so it wouldn't fit. only RC250,350,200t

I took the pic from the RC350/2xx eBay listing. Unless that is the wrong pic they posted.

It looks like the hanger rubbers are being pulled in on the IS and pushed out on the RC

Here's the key piece of information.
RC350 shares same Fsport Axleback Exhaust part number as the IS250/350

Part number PTR03-53140

Awesome. That basically tells us YES it should fit! I sent Tanabe an email about compatibility (regardless of diffuser fitment), will share news if they reply.

I'm sort of surprised the tube lengths are the same considering the RC wheelbase is 3" shorter than IS. Guess that is from midpipe forward? But this is awesome news.

Love the sound of the Tanabe:

Love the sound of the Tanabe: Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust for 2015 Lexus RC-350 F-Sport (Part# T70181A) - YouTube
I don't think tanabe will be able to confirm yes. They are probably going to say no since it's not a true bolt on to stock without modification (rear diffuser needs to be changed)

This is something someone from our community will just have to take one for the team and try and share the knowledge if it lines up to the aftermarket diffusers (TRD, skipper, maintain, Rowen etc) we have available currently.
My guess is yes or it will be close.

The RC is a hybrid of a 3IS, 4GS and IS- convertible. It's literally a Frankenstein car with not a lot of re-engineering done to it. They recycled engineering

If anyone is willing to try it, as long as it's not installed, I'd waive all shipping fees if it would need to be returned.

another thing, soon we may be seeing quad exhaust for the 2017+ IS refresh.
Lexus is using the RC350 exhuast tip with new diffuser design.
There may be chance that companies like Tanabe start listing same part numbers for the IS refresh to the RC.

How would someone try it without installing? Honest question

I would retrofit that diffuser and exhaust tips in a heart beat. I wonder if that's all it is...
