I am a proud owner of a 2014 Lexus IS300h and I love the car.
Since I got the car, I was wondering if I can "install" the Navigation software onto the car's computer. My car doesn't have the (premium) navigation on board.
Is that possible or do I need additional hardware?
I don't believe it's possible because the joystick controller is different on the navigation model vs non-navigation. I believe the whole interface is different.
its puzzling to me y someone would buy a car ,then decide to add something major, that they could have got on the car already, .to me the purchase was not well through out . no offense just my useless 2 cents . when i buy a car i do research for months on end
No, it isn't puzzling and research has little to do with it, people sometimes do regret not purchasing some accessory in the very beginning, perfectly understandable specially months/years later.
I don't regret it since I can use MirrorLink in the car.
As a software engineer I am just interested if a simple installation was possible.
I saw that there actually is a navigation without the premium "navigation stick". So it has to be only a software thing - as long as the GPS unit is installed.
