Default 17 and 18 inch wheels on IS250

Hello,

I have driven two Lexus IS 250's with the standard 17" wheels. I am considering trading up to the 2014 model, which appears to often come with 18" wheels on the AWD model (which is what I am looking for).

What differences can I expect on the 18" wheels vs. what the 17" gives now?

Thanks!

a more harsh ride due to low profile tires.

Better handling though. But yes a little more harsh of a ride. Test drive both of you can.

i wouldn't use the word 'harsh' but you will feel the road a bit more. you're losing 1/2 an inch of rubber cushion. as long as you get decent tires, you might not notice a difference at all

Previous to my IS350 (F-Sport w/ 18" rims), I had a 335i. Even with the 18" rims and the drive mode set to Sport+, I wouldn't call the ride harsh. It's a tad firm, but I never feel or hear bumps. Compared to the BMW, the Lexus is very smooth, quiet and supple. In the BMW, you could feel and hear every crack in the road and whenever you hit a manhole cover, it sounded like an explosion rippling through the suspension. Now that's what I call harsh.
