Wheels fitment question

I've the IS250 F sport.

I know the stock rear wheels is 18 x 8.5-in. Will 255/40R18 tire on 18 x 8.0-in for rear (taken from IS 350) fit my IS250 F sport? Will there be any danger driving in that size wheel?

if you're riding stock height, a taller tire should fit fine

The tires is the same size as the stock tire. The only difference is the 8.5" stock vs 8.0" (the one I'm thinking of buying).

Is 8.5" the width or height of the wheel?

Oh my,... just found out my stock rear tire size is 255/35/18, not 255/40/18....

So, will 225/40/18 front & 255/40/18 rear fit my stock 225/40/18 front & 255/35/18 rear?
