Default 2016 IS300 with 350 ECU

Hi, my question is since the new IS300 uses the same engine as the IS350 is it possible to boost the power of the 300 to the 350 spec. If possible, it would be smarter buying a 300 and upping the power to the 350 levels, after all 50 hp is a lot.

I dont see why it shouldn't be possible.

The *tricky* part is finding an ECU and not voiding any warrentys for doing the mod..

I still can't figure out for the life of my, why is Lexus doing this.. Same engine, different HP..

i believe the only reason they did that was to put out a cheaper awd 3is. the 200t is not available in awd.

The 200t motor does not, for whatever reason, appear to be compatible with the AWD system in this configuration. They needed a 250 AWD replacement, so this route was no doubt cheaper than coming up with an AWD system compatible with the 2.0t, or coming up with yet another engine. The IS300 AWD is a fantastic upgrade to the IS250 AWD and should sell very well.

I believe there is hardware differences between the IS300 and IS350 AWD. They can just sell the IS350 AWD at the IS300 price if the only difference is the ECU. They still need extra afford to develop the IS300 ECU. Just my 2 cents.

Why would the warranty be voided if you're just swapping one Lexus ECU for another Lexus ECU? In terms of detuning the V-6, I think it's cheaper to do and it's more reliable than a turbo-charged engine especially in colder regions.

It was just a random thought that occurred in my head, not saying I'm going to do this but it would be an interesting option.

Fat chance of it happening. I'll be happy to eat my words one day, but until then, all of you cheapskates are better off getting the 350.

with that said, the 300 is a huge upgrade over the 250.

ECU's have immobilizers tied to the keys/car. Its not a direct plug and play.
