Default Chiptuning IS250?

Hi guys,

This IS200T has really made me think alot about how to gain 40HP and around the same foot pounds on my 250 these days (in a snap ).
Then I realized that I have never encountered a thread about Chiptuning the 250 engine here. Has anyone done it? any noticabe gain? any drawbacks (other than warranty)??

The only video I could find on youtube (quick search) was this one which wouldnt even do a proper before after test.

let me know if you can provide me with your valuable experience...

It's been discussed with controversial results. Read this thread and there are other threads in the 2IS performance section.

Right at the start of the video he claims it should gain 40ft-lbs of torque but you can see for yourself in the dyno graph it doesn't.

If you want a real good tune, you need to find people with the know-how and tools that can custom do a tune for you while tweaking it on their own dyno to see the results.

If your after more HP, personally I'd look for a used 350 engine and swap it in or find a used 250 engine and di-sect it to see where it can be modded.

That's crazy. Just look for a used 350 and do a trade in with your 250. I bet it's way cheaper to do it that way.

Crazy? Nah.. People have been doing that type of swap to their cars for years...

Cheaper? Perhaps.. Depends on how lucky you are with junkyard finds.

It's a project I am looking into for myself.
