Q50 is the same price as an IS350. It's also not as good in the handling department but is slightly faster. I'd rather have a Q50 vs a Maxima though.

Q50 has reliability issues, especially the screens

I liked the screens on the Q50 when I drove one. Its a little bigger, but something about it did not inspire me to buy one....

Issue 1: CVT
Issue 2: CVT
Issue 3: FWD
Issue 4: CVT

Make sure you have good power train coverage because that transmission will have to be replaced before it hits 100k.

I agree with you, it does look nice. I was checking one out while on my daily commute to work.. until the lady driving it decided to cut me off, almost hitting me in the process.

I recently rented a loaded Kia Optima and was damn impressed... it made me a little disappointed in myself when I realized just how good mid-class sedans have gotten and even ashamed for spending so much money on the IS. From a stop the Kia is quick! And it even has the lines of a luxury sedan. When I got home it only took a glance at the lexus to snap out of it. The heft of the door, quality of the interior. Oh my goodness ... if you've been eyeballing the IS, get it. It's like comparing a casio to a Rolex....

You can probably find the Maxima as a car rental. I have a rule for myself: never by a car that is purchased/available in mass quantity by rental car companies. This is for no other reason than having some degree of exclusivity.

Get a Lexus. You won't regret it.
