Default is250 fsport need help :/

Back in may I got the is250 f sport CL. Unfortunately last night while I was leaving a parking lot. Out of moment I had no choice but to keep reversing, as someone under the influence was in front of my car driving towards me. Even after several attempts honking, my hands and my friends hand signaling him to stop, he did not. And basically so my front would not get hit by him, I was forced to reverse parallel park making hit the gate to the parking lot damaging my rear bumper. It's not tht bad, but bad being tht the car is new. The imprint of the gate was left on the bumper and dented.

I was wondering if you guys can let me know around how much would it be for a new bumper and labor?.... he said he will pay for it, as if he does not I will take thru his insurance.

Thanks in advance guys.

That's horrible! I hope you are ok. It's hard say what it would cost, but depending on if the bumper cover alone is damaged or if the reinforced bar underneath is also damaged. If it's just the bumper cover you're lucky. A good body shop will remove and repainted the entire bumper over, the reinstall it. My guess somewhere around $500.

If your as **** about your car as I am about mine, you'll want it done by a good repair shop. Good luck.

I don't know the cost of the bumper, but you may be able to get refurbished by now. I had my front end taken off about 5 months after purchasing a 2014 IS and could only get OEM.

Something else you might consider: backing out of the way of the drunk driver (and into a gate) was not your best decision. Had the other driver left the scene, the police and your insurance company would not have believed you about the damage, and you would have had to cover the repair costs yourself. You also might have been cited for reckless driving.

People do things like this a lot... swerve to avoid hitting someone and smashing into a wall (or another driver). If the other driver disappears, you're at fault as far as anyone else knows. Obviously try to avoid getting into an accident, but if an accident is unavoidable, let the other guy hit you so that the events are clear to the police and the insurance company. It's counterintuitive, but it makes the most economic sense.
