Default Break In Period??

Just got the 2015 IS350 F, and was wondering if the break in period is still a thing.. I've gotten mixed results when asking, so I just wanted to see what everyone here says.

I've read online that you don't need to worry about breaking cars in anymore, but I've also heard you should still do it to let everything settle in, mating surfaces etc. A friend of mind recommended to don't go over 4k RPM and vary my speeds while driving on the freeway until I hit 1500 miles on the odometer.

Honestly, I didn't really stick with it for long.. I've been WOTing it here and there just cause I just got it, and I've been excited to drive it. Plus it doesn't help that this was the test drive model (although there was only 23 miles on the odo, and the salesman claims that most of them were mine), and that I smashed it on the test drive not realizing that it would be the one I purchased (it was the only one they had left in white w/black interior... apparently red interior w/white is the hot seller).

Anyways, what did you guys do when you guys first got your cars?

I just followed the directions in our owner's manual:

■ Breaking in your new Lexus
To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:
● For the first 186 miles (300 km):
Avoid sudden stops.
● For the first 621 miles (1000 km):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration.
• Do not drive continuously in low gears.
• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

Yes, I followed the direction as well. It doesn't hurt to do it the first 621 miles.
Also, 350 has good enough power to get and go between 2 to 3k rpm.
