I just use a two, three, or four way 12V socket adaptor etc, to power the front and rear dashcams simultaneously.

So long you're not drawing a lot of current. If I'm not mistaken you'll blow the power socket fuse at 10 A.

Drawing directly from the car's lead acid battery, or the fuse box, can deliver a maximum output of something like 12V @ 7 Amps = 84 Watts, due to the natural internal resistance inside the PbSO4 battery.
The cigarette lighter socket in the car can normally deliver a maximum output of 12V at only 5 Amps = 60 Watts - if I'm not wrong.

Apparently, each single channel dashcam runs at only 5V and less than 0.5 Amps maximum draw, ie 2.5 Watts.
Thus two single channel dashcams runs at 5V and less than 1 Amp maximum draw, ie 5 Watts.
So it should be safe.

The maximum output at the terminals of a car's lead acid battery is dependent on the battery manufacturer's specifications and the condition of the battery - as well as ambient conditions.

Thanks! This seems like the easiest way to go. I'll look into buying something like this.

And just to be sure, the 12v port only works when ignition is on... so when I park my car, the dash cam will not be powered? Unless it has its own power source..?

Yes, the 12V cig lighter socket only works with the ignition on.
When you turn the ignition off, your dashcam will power off.
