I would go ISF, personally - especially a late model one with the LSD/DRLs. I think the 350 engine is underwhelming, and I have one. I don't think you're missing out on any tech, either.

 

Personally, I'd go with the 2015 IS 350 + Fsport. If you crave the power and don't mind the styling, go with the 2012 IS-F

 

Lets keep things relative here. The IS-F doesn't scream power.

2015 IS350 F sport 0-60 is 5.6 seconds while the IS-F is 4.9 (and I think thats being generous).

From normal driving, you'll rarely see that 1/2 second. From a dig, that about 1/2 car length or a little more.

So..how do you plan to drive it?

Anyways, I'd rather a new IS. I like the interior far better and it's well.. New!

Oh, I wasn't insinuating different brands, I was just saying that the power difference isn't really that big between the IS-F and IS350. thats all

 

If I didn't need the rear seat space, I would get the IS F. It's relatively rare, and you could always pick up a 3IS later.

I actually think it's more significant than that. Car and Driver tested their IS F in 0-60 at 4.4 seconds, and noted some of their runs were even faster. Motor Trend got 4.3 seconds. That's more than a second faster to 60 than a current RWD IS350, which is significant in my opinion.

 

ISF would be my pick between the two. 2012 with new tweaked suspension should be comfortable enough to drive passengers with.

If i had this choice, i'd go for the ISF no questions. I drove one right after i got my 3IS and i felt really mad at myself for not getting one. The 3IS is a great car, amazing in many ways, but it'll never be even close to an ISF in many aspects (motor, brakes, looks, etc), even if you just cruise in it, it feels more special. And not to mention everytime you'll see one on the road, you'll beat yourself up for not going that route. Don't listen to those who say it's not much different. If you never drove one, do it and then decide.

 

I was in a similar situation when I got my new car and I came from a 2IS 350. It really depends on what is important to you. The IS F is pretty bad *** but the redesign of the 350 is pretty sweet too. I ended up going w/ the new 350 because the F wasn't enough of a change from my old 350.

 

Motor is only 100hp more. Nothing an Intake, exhaust, and headers can't make closer. As for brakes, a big brake kit can be put on the 3IS, which would be even better than the IS-F offering. Finally, looks....3IS is so much better looking than the 2IS.

while I may not have driven an IS-F, my car has blown one away and I still find my wife's IS350 a very good car with potential. Just need some mods such as intake, exhaust, sways and trailing arms, and perhaps a wider wheel (255s are too small to put down consistent power)

On one hand, the F is a rare car. You just don't see them all that often. Plus it will be much quicker than the 3IS. W/ that said, last I read, the 3IS out handles and clocks quicker times AROUND (not down the 1/4) a track than the F. That's saying something, IMO. I would go 3IS.

 

That was my initial problem. I drove the ISF before test driving the F Sport. Can not compare the two. Apples and Oranges. I have to be practical and get the IS 350 F sport now and hopefully after 5 years when the kids get older I can get a 2014 ISF.
