Are you guys using high-level inputs? Also, how does on get behind the headunit (lets say if I wanted to install a bazooka bass-tube using the F.A.S.T. harness they provide).

I bought this powered Rockville RVB8.1A 8" subwoofer (300watts, 200watts RMS), comes with all of the wiring, hooks up to the sub/amp via wire harness. It was on sale for $79.99 (typically $149.99), and I registered with an Amazon Visa rewards for an additional $50 off; ended up being $29.99. There are few reviews, but are favorable. For $29.99, I don't think I can go wrong...

Amazon.com : Package: Rockville RVB8.1A 8" 300 Watt Peak/200 Watt RMS Active/Powered Car Subwoofer + Rockville RWK10 Complete 10 Gauge Wire Kit With Rca Cables : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Package: Rockville RVB8.1A 8" 300 Watt Peak/200 Watt RMS Active/Powered Car Subwoofer + Rockville RWK10 Complete 10 Gauge Wire Kit With Rca Cables : Car Electronics

I have decided to see how the 12" FI Q will sound in a new ported enclosure without messing with the ML system.

I assume I will have to upgrade the ML system later. But I cannot afford it now.

Hey guys, did you upgrade the rest of the ML system when you did the aftermarket sub?

Is it possible to install a pair of underseat subwoofers in our cars? I loved them in my E92, as it was the perfect amount of low end bass, but not overpowering and full of rattles.

I had two 12s and two 10s in a couple of my first cars as a teenager, but thats way too much bass for my taste these days. And having to layer the trunk with so much Dynamat was a pain.

Would love to know if we had any other options than the typical trunk setup.

yes, there is plenty of room for one of those powered units. In all honesty, I would simply just get an LC6i or LC7i, use the total sum feature to sum all frequencies, and feed the front speakers with an aftermarket amp (maybe one with 50 rms watts/channel at 4ohms) with a filter of approx. 200-250hz. The front door speakers are 7.1"/ 4 ohm drivers on the standard premium sound (ML's have smaller front drivers), and uses the entire door as an enclosure so the potential for low & mid-bass production is there.

You'll be surprised by the amount of bass that can be produced by the OEM front speakers. As an experiment, I disconnected the subwoofer line and used that line to tap into both front speaker lines. The bass is night/day difference it makes you wonder why even bother with such an underpowered OEM sub.

I already got the audio control LC2. That will be used to tap into the stock ML system for the JBL bp1200.1 amp to power the FI Q.

I guess I should have purchased an audio control lc4 or Lc6 to be able to run more amps to power the front speakers 😕

THANK you

I'm having the shop instal the LC2 Monday. I will be forwarding your thread to him, just in case he has issues. By reading through your thread, I'm glad to pay them $150 to install. I hope he won't have any problems. He hasn't worked on a car like this before. Which is not surprising. I'm pretty sure I have the only IS 350 F Sport in central oregon
Gets a LOT of looks 😝👍👍

OMG!!!

Sub hits insane hard. Makes your vision blurry and eardrums itch. Good thing I had him instal the **** to turn the bass up or down in the center console.

Very happy. Impressed with how loud the fronts can get too.
