I am unsure what pin the car uses, because all of those 4 pole cables have different pins set for video. Get a coupler like I did and go trial and error.

Plug the 4 pole into the car, use a coupler on the other end and then try the video cable in each one.

If you still can't get it, PM me and I'll give you my number.

Here's the confirmed pinout on the car side:

(Starting from the tip)
Left - Right - Ground - Video

I successfully displayed the video output from a Raspberry PI on the screen. Now, I need to bypass the video in motion block thing to fully enjoy it.

Personally I didn't want an HDMI to Composite adapter that required power like the one you have which is why I went with the RadioShack version that did not require power. However the video quality is less than desirable.

The problem you are encountering is that you need to switch your plugs around. Put the white plug in the red port, the yellow plug in the white port, and the red plug into the yellow port. Let me know how that works out.

If it doesn't, move the yellow one around until you get video then figure out which one is L audio and which one is R audio.

If you get it to work, let me know how the quality is.

Default Still nothing

I tried every way possible with the plugs and still no sound or video. Going to get the coupler. If that works then maybe my module is a defect

well unfortunately, in your case the coupler won't do anything.

Try another type of hdmi to component adapter.

Or, try your adapter on your tv and see if it works, if not then it's a defective unit for sure.

It may not be getting enough power.....

This is why i opted for a non powered converter

This is awesome!!!

So in order to view my iphone such as a map, should i connect av to aux -> connect av to coupler -> connect hdmi converter with coupler -> connect hdmi to hdmi cable to converter -> connect to apple lightning digital av adapter -> then connect to iphone.

Is this how it works??

I'm using the same HDMI to composite converter. You can use the supplied USB power cable to give it power. My set up isn't working 100% either, but it seems to be my 3.5mm to composite cable. I'm able to see video if I pull the cable out a notch from the A/V port in the car, but not if pushed all the way in.

I tried switching around, but that didn't work. I'm guessing the 4th pole on the AV cable I have (near the base) is ground, so switching around the cables didn't work. Btw, thanks for the tutorial!
