Default Suggestions to make IS350/IS500 suspensions softer

Hi all,

Currently, I'm driving a 2012 ES350. I really like the look of the 2021+ IS350/IS500, I expect that its suspensions would be way stiffer than my ES from the previous IS test drive in the past (I hate it btw).

To me IS is a more beautiful and practical car with foldable backseats while backseat's legroom is not a concern to me.

Is it possible to put ES's or softer suspensions on the IS to achieve the same level of comfort? I would probably also switch to square setup and smaller wheels with higher tires.

I don't really care about sportiness or handling tbh. My ES already can take turns at 70+ mph on freeways without any issues.

Have you driven a 21+ IS specifically? I had a 16' ISFS, but drove a '21 for a month two years ago. It was a night and day difference from my '16. I was eyeing a second hand ES as an additions to my IS until I drove the '21, I didn't think there was much of a point of that after. the '21 due to the two suspensions overhauls since my '16 was made, felt like a real luxury car IMO; While my '16 felt like a sports sedan, from 2015.

I need it to be harder.
Sadly I'm not a fan of anything none-stock.

I'm sure the ES and IS have totally different suspension setups, so swapping suspension parts may not be the most practical (or cost effective). I would say that the DHP isn't crazy stiff itself either.

If you're really set on the IS, I would go with getting the IS350 F Sport Design and see how you like that. You could find some quality aftermarket coilovers and adjust those to your liking. If you want even softer, you could downsize to 17" wheels (make sure they clear the brakes), but that may ruin the look of the car for you.

The one I drove was a 2012 IS350 also.

The 2012 IS350 was 2nd gen, 3rd gen started in 2014. The 2021 is going to feel way different than the 2012. You need to test drive the 2021 before thinking about suspension changes.

Best bet is to get the non F-Sport. You can also get tires with a softer sidewall.

This. Or, get a car with the Adaptive Variable Suspension. This was available on the Dynamic Handling Package cars and the F Sport Handling cars. I find my 2023 IS 500 rides a bit more smoothly than my 2021 IS 350 did.
