I must say this car handles GREAT! Here in CA everyone wants to be ahead of everyone else, even those going slow (but that's another thread). So people racing through traffic is not uncommon (what this proofs I have no idea as traffic dictates who wins), anyhow, I refuse to get involved in speeding through traffic to proof anything, but this morning I could tell this person driving a Mazda Miata was pissed because every time they would try to pass, traffic would back up in the lane they were in, mind you I was maintaining the flow of traffic in my lane. They finally got passed and made sure to floor it when along side to express their misguided frustration. Miles up the freeway, there they are in a lane I am overtaking due to traffic flow - so I see this person throw their car in the lane behind me about three cars back - I am exiting so I make my way to the right and who pops out but this Miata - we are coming to a two lane exit with a pretty substantial curve as it exits the freeway and as we come to the curve the Miata pops out in the lane to my left - I decided at that point to put the IS handling to the test as I thought - I'm not speeding through traffic, just taking this curve much faster than sign says to take it (mind you I don't recommend this type of driving since anything can happen) but the curve felt awesome, felt like the car was on rails, no squealing tires and no feeling of loss of control at all (all drive settings on normal) - so upon exiting the curve, the Miata was four car lengths behind - where upon he floored it and swished passed at twice the speed limit. Anyway, first time really putting the car to the test handling wise and man, SMILES all day.
Funny how that happens to people trying to be first place on the freeway (switching into a lane and then traffic begins to pile up). You can drive by them and see the frustration on their faces. I can't do anything but laugh when people try to "race to the red light," as I call it. And, trust me, here in Houston, I see things like this happen on a daily basis!
Glad to see you were able to put the great handling of the 3IS to use!
