Great work and awesome write-up. This is exactly what I had in mind with the grommet and all.

Would it be too much trouble for you to provide some dimensions? Provides us with a good start for the pilot hole.

Yes, very scary, and I was all set to order another cover if I messed up...
But I didn't like having the inner bumper be seen, so I got the guts and drilled... Thanks though...

The pilot hole I drilled started as a 1/2 inch drill bit, slightly to the right and beneath the F on the back side of the plate. On the first post, you can see the hole in-between the IS- and the UP. The hole will end up being widened to at least 3/4 inch. Remember that the bolt is sitting at an angle so the final look of the hole will be more oval rather than circular. When fitting the rubber grommet, 3/4 inch bought from Home Depot, you will again use your dremel to custom fit it to the cover and over the bolt. The 3/4 inch oval you made is exactly what will fit the bolt and you need to wide that hole again to fit both the grommet and the bolt. Go slow and little at a time. Test fit and then go back to shaving... then test fit again...

Thie fitting of the grommet took me about 3 hours because I was trying to shave about 1mm at a time and then go back and test fit... I didn't want the hole to be larger than it needed to be.

Hope this helps...

Johnny

It doesn't specify year on the Grimmspeed site. Do you know which part number you ordered Johnny?

Thanks for the write-up with the picture guide. I had this done too on my car. Looks much better than when it had a gaping tow hook hole and it gives peace of mind too. Thumbs up.
