Default Winter tires... Finding the right size.

Seems like my winter tire and wheels endeavor is hitting many road blocks... I found the wheels, but now I can't seem to find a decent selection of matching winter tires..

There's a set of Pirellis on Tire rack which are runflats.. but that is literally all I can find for the 3IS...

Have you guys had better luck?

Are you planning to get new rims? What size? I started a thread on this and advice I got was to not use the 255/35/18 stock rims for Winter tires since it's little wider. I'm currently considering going with four 225/40/18, basically 4 factory F-Sport front rims. If you are considering 17" rims then I read 225/45/17 would be the proper size for F-Sport.

You should search for the previous thread.

I actually have a second set of F sport rims. A buddy didn't want them so I'm gonna use them for winter tires. is there anything wrong with running winters on a wider rear wheel?

you'll have better traction with a narrower tire in snow, but if your stuck with the stock wheel size you'll be better off getting something close to the stock size.
personally i don't see the need to do anything for winter in an AWD car, i run the same tires all year round never had any problems.
