Yes, the centre black piece where the Drive Select button resides) as well as the entire climate control and the sound system panel are all very sensitive to scratches, surface marring and abrasion.

I doubt if PlasticX could actually repair the scratches as the those black finish have a kind of texture to it. You may create some shiny spots as a result if trying too hard.

The way I have been avoiding the scratches on those areas and inside a car in general is I wear gloves every time I drive. And don't rub the surface if you find a dirt or smear. Use a good and clean micro fibre cloth, damp it and dab over the surface initially, then do another pass before the attempt to apply any plastic protectant.

Ya, I am afraid to give PlasticX a try and it to turn out worse than before. I hope we can replace the centre black piece where the drive select button is in the future with the aluminum trim or something that doesn't show scratches as easily! It must be removable!

Hopefully it is available in the minor makeover of 3IS a few years from now.

Wiped a small area on the large curved part of the passenger dash with a microfiber towel and the surface marred and appeared discolored. Used Lexus leather conditioner with little luck. I finally applied Harley Davidson black saddlebag polish on the area and it looks much better. I have never encountered such a cheap and fragile dash surface. As others have posted, the dash appears to be outgassing with a hazy and blotchy appearance. Big disappointment.

i don't understand why people are using harsh chemicals and what not on their car's interior. why not use a plain old microfiber towel to wipe the lint off. them chemicals may produce a shine temproarily, but will do more harm than good, espicially if its sitting in the sun. sure i may use conditioner here and there, but very scarcely

Have you read through this thread?? The issue isn't with lint...the issue is with the dash, mostly on passenger side, becoming faded, blotchy and dry.
