Largely pointless tangential thought de jour: "polarizing"
Several times I have seen on this forum, and also on the similar Q50, the word "polarizing" being used to describe the way that one single person might react to one of these cars, or the other one, depending on which side of the fence you ended up.
After seeing this word used this way several times, I sort of gagged.
The word "polarizing" is descriptive of a design that many people like a lot and many other people dislike a lot. The population as a whole becomes "polarized". It is very bad use of the word in the first place, and automotive journalists are notorious for that sort of things, but when it is used as though it describes the affect the design might have on one person, it does not make any sense, at all.
Just thought I'd clear that up, for the benefit of anyone who is confused. There are, in fact, some people who make strongly worded statements on these forums, without bothering to make certain that they know the meaning of the words they are using.
