I see no reason to pay more money for a car with very good handling and less MPG and power when other sport luxury cars will offer it all. . and I do not consider Mustangs or similar cars to be in a similar class. I feel that the 3IS with a 250 needs more speed to equate to its driving dynamics.
You may have owned "Porches" but what I want to know is whether you've ever owned a "Porsche". This isn't Home Depot you know.

Even the Accord 4 cylinder is about as fast and gets much better MPG than the Lexus 250. The 250 power is adequate but I want more than adequate. Due to the carbon issue my Lexus has for years not idled as smooth as my old '01 Acura CL or even our '13 Elantra GT- sad to say but the Elantra even shifts smoother particularly from 1-2. I don't need the power and added expense of the IS 350 since I live in the SF Bay Area and would rarely use it but if I am going to shell out significantly over 40K it will need to be sporty AND fast. Will wait and see what Lexus comes up with next or will be looking elsewhere.
I love how you said even Accord is faster then IS250, and consumes less gas. I drive an Accord now.

I love almost everything about 3gen IS250 but the engine, it's such a deal breaker for me.
I'm okay with 200hp, slighty more would definitely be nice. The MPG is a big deal for me. Boosting the combined MPG to around 28 would be great.

I think if they bring in IS300h, I'd be satisfied and pull the trigger right away..............

Actually, I have owned both and had good times in both of them!

If I'm paying the same money, I don't want a 40+k vehicle that will struggle to pass a civic on the road. You're also far more likely to cut people off in an under powered car then one that can safely pass a slower vehicle before your passing opportunity closes. How about driving at altitude? Do you realize how much power is lost when you're a mile high and there's far less atmosphere? Add to that driving up a hill? With passengers? On a warm day? With the AC on? Needing to pass an 18 wheeler?

Like I said, you're being stubborn or just don't understand. I'd rather drive a 328 than a sportier "looking" IS 250.

I agree. That's why I like what MB did with c300 this. A detuned version of the 3.5L 4gr-fse, putting out about 240hp and 240 ft-lbs of torque, running on 87 octane, would be good seller. They could easily push teh IS350 to 320-330 hp like GM and Nissan.

the is250 does not need to be fast, but needs to be faster, and have a fatter torque curve. A sub 7 second 0-60 time is more than enough

And I'm saying a new engine is coming to replace the IS 250 as is Hoovey and thats all everyone needs to know.

Well then, everybody wins. The IS250 apologists can jump on the turbo 4 bandwagon when that happens.

Other than the HS and CT, I dont think lexus would ever do a 4cyl anything in any one of its top premium teir cars. Its only wishful thinking.

The IS 300h has a 2.5l R4 engine

But it might not be top tier? (I think it is!)

GS 300h. 2.5 litre inline four. Identical to IS 300h.

Audi also has 4 cylinders in the A8. A8 Hybrid has the same powertrain as the A6 Hybrid. 4 cylinder 2.0T with 8 speed automatic transmission and an electric motor instead of the torque converter.

Correction, Lexus wont release a 4cyl in North America. The is300h is a mere fantasy in america and they wont give the goods here anyway. America always seems to get the **** end of the stick from japan. Ever since Hiroshima, the Japanese have been butthurt and getting back at us slowly over time by keeping all the good cars to themselves while telling america to suck it! lol

Except there's a very strong rumor that Lexus will be adding a Turbo 4. Not far fetched when nearly all your rivals have turbo 4s that destroy the lack luster V6 in the 250

thats not true, look at all turbo deisel vehicles....

but even regular gas turbo cars can get just as good of gas mileage its having a lead foot sucks down gas on turbo vehicles too. i would say my old wrx got just as good gas mileage on averge as my is350 if not better city driving vs city driving

Milage for a petrol turbo is all about how you drive. Use the Power = high consumtion. The difference between eco-driving and full power is greater on a turbo engine than a N/A. A N/A engine has a more even consumtion, which is higher when eco-driving due to bigger cylinder volume.

With normal driving my Audi 2.0T used slightly more fuel than announced. More inspired driving and the consumtion was way off, easily increasing 60-80%.
