Default Adaptive/Dyanamic Cruise Control

Does anyone have a 3IS with this yet? It's not a packaged option. I'm wondering how well it works.

I saw that article back when it came out.

Interesting that no dealers have ordered any with that option. Does it have something to do with it only being a $40 msrp mark up? (Wheel locks alone are a $30 markup ) Maybe the option wasn't being installed during the initial production run.

Anyone out there special-order their car with this option? $500 seems like a deal.
CT, ES, and LS are $1500
GS is $2000
and bmw 3series is $2400

Even the prius has this option package with nav in the V.

if you are worried about it being cheap or something, dont... Our European one comes with pre-crash and is priced at $2500.

Well, I'm less concerned about it working as I am with why you can't find a car with it installed.

Nearly every car out there comes with the 900 dollar optional wheels.

I passed on it as it wasn't worth it to me to special order. I had it on my previous car along with Lane departure, front and back sensors, etc. It might depend on the implementation but I found it to be something that seems really cool until I got tired of it slamming on brakes. You can set how many car length away you want (up to 3) but it's still slams the brakes if someone enters your lane even safely ahead of you. It was slow to accelerate after slowing. It modulated far too much. I did a better job of driving and felt more secure driving rather than the nanny. Another thing is that it's great to look at the scenery instead of the road until the system hits the brakes and scares the heck out of every one. Made me nervous. I stopped using it.
