IS 250 or IS 350
 

I'm planning on buy the new Lexus IS but don't know which one to get. I could spend more for the 350 or save money on the 250. Which one is worth it? Is the 250 slow?

In my opinion the 250 is not 'slow' but it is not 'fast'. Being that the 350 is only a few grand more on the newer models, I would go with the 350, plus mpg in the 250 is only slightly better.

But to really know what 'fast' and 'slow' are to you, it would be nice to know what your driving now and what your needs are. Being in UT for example, I would assume you would want AWD if its a daily driver.

Plus, do some searches, much of this has already been discussed here.

Obviously drive them both and decide for yourself. Personally, I feel the 250 is under powered as I am currently in a 2IS 350. The difference between the 250 and 350 is night and day, I think. I have driven 2IS 250s as loaner vehicles while my car has been in for service and could not wait to get back into mine. I also ordered a new 3IS 350 and never even considered a 250.

350 awd without a doubt. The price for the is250 I would rather buy an acura TSX. You get a lot more car for the same price.

I drive a year 2000 Infiniti i30 which is still my parents car and It's slow. I'll probaly go with the IS 350 AWD F-sport

Just FYI - 350 AWD has a six-speed transmission. If AWD is not a big deal, go for RWD, which has a eight-speed tranny.

Are you going to clear bra your 2014. I clear bra'd a 2010 Acura can't say it went that well. Still got pockmarks where it wasn't clear bra'd and then it started peeling after 2 years.

FYI -- check your tire pressure -- mine was overinflated to 40psi -- should be 37psi. Acura overinflates to 40 when recommended is 33psi.

I put my money down on the IS 250 F-Sport because looks were the major priority over performance. It's a matter of what's important to you. For some perspective, I come from a CT and a prior IS 250 AWD which was fine for me. Fast 0-60 mph performing cars was never something I benefited from commuting mainly in the city.

Get the 350. I went from a 250 to 300hp car, and the difference is night and day. Contrary to what people say, torque is very useful, and use it every day, even in dense traffic.

If the 350 is out of your budget range, I would look at a 2013 IS, g37 or s60.

For me (and I suspect others) it is not really a budget issue. I can afford, and do not mind paying for, something I will benefit from, such as a memory seat. I do not really need more than 200 hp, so I do not feel I would benefit from the 350 vs. the 250. In fact, I would buy the IS 300 hybrid, if they sold it in the US. However, I have to admit that test driving the 350 F Sport at the ride and drive event on Saturday was a lot of fun.

when the 350 is now only $3500 more than the 250 its a no brainer. You get bigger brakes and the 8 speed transmission on the 350 also. Mileage isnt even that much better in the 250, like 2-3 mpg more

It's not just $3500 more if u want the IS 350fsport with ML. that ends up close to $6k more.

The price of the 250 also goes up with the f sport and ML packages.

Perhaps the OP should look at the ATS 2.0. It splits the price difference nicely between the 250 and 250, as well as the power difference.

In Canada it's 5K difference which makes choosing the 350 more difficult. :sad:

350 all the way. Think about the price of German cars. 350 Fsport is already cheaper than Bmw 328i. It's a steal.
