I have a Prius and after I lowered it, I noticed the 60/40 seats sometimes squeak. It has to do with the metal latch that locks the seat in position. Occasionally, the metal rubs against each other to create an annoying squeak.

Given that a Lexus is essentially a Toyota AND the problems I've read about here the the 2nd gen IS has with squeaks and rattles, do you think the new IS's 60/40 rear seats will also create problems? If I spend $44k on a car, I expect it to be rock solid and quiet.

 

A Lexus is not essentially a Toyota. For example a Lexus has to be built at a minimum at 1/2 of the tolerances of Toyota vehicles. If anything we have heard of a Lexus have a rattle or two but I can't recall squeaky seats unless there are two people back there bumping uglies

 

That's hard to tell now, probably it's rock solid. Wont be a show stopper for me.

 

You cannot compare a Prius which was built with thin, hard plastics everywhere with a focus on extreme weight savings to a Lexus IS.
