So I'm in Japan to pick up another car...

Why?
There's no Toyota equivalent even in its home country of Japan. In Toyota's/Japanese public's mind, Lexus is a higher tier compared to Toyota.
Just like Audi sells alongside VW in Germany, BMW sells alongside Mini etc...

The Lexus IS is a series of entry-level luxury cars / compact executive cars sold by Lexus since 1998. The IS was introduced as an entry-level sport model slotted below the ES in the Lexus lineup (and outside of North America, the Lexus GS). The IS was originally sold under the Toyota Altezza nameplate in Japan (the word "altezza" is Italian for "highness") until the introduction of the Lexus brand and the second generation Lexus IS design in 2006. The Altezza name is still used at times to refer to chromed car taillights like those fitted to the first generation model, known as 'Altezza lights' or 'Lexus-style' lights.[1]

Also the GS was called the Toyota Aristo in Japan. Did not bother searching for the wiki on that.

Dont think so. I think this is a new trend to seperate and globalize the Lexus brand, to your point, like Audi.

Also, when we talk about Japan, they have Crown and Mark-X, which are 30% less expensive and have same powertrains, but less complicated suspensions and lower end interiors...
I guess some would have Toyota kill Crown and Mark-X just so Lexus sells better :-)

still, chump change compared to singapore
i am from hong kong, so i am not that "stunned" at all
The 350 isn't for sale here, simply because it would cost about $130+k
A fully laoded IS300h f-sport cost about $ 90k
A fully Gs450H F-sport costs about $185k.
Somehow the japanese prices seems very reasonable

Its ironic that in Japan they still need to put it on there because the car is Japanese and the Japanese should know a Lexus even better

My dream trip is to a Tokyo Lexus dealer. I went out of my way to buy a built in Japan '12 RX-350and just recently my Wife's'12 IS-250(I know all IS's are built in Japan). I would sell the house to buy an LFA.
I guess that's why my Wife won't let me go to Japan....lol.
