Putting in an order Monday....

Are dealers actually taking orders now? No pricing, no complete option list, no exact details as to exterior/interior colors, it would seem to be a stretch to order one now.

Dealers can take refundable deposits before any car comes out. All it does is save your place in line for a car.

My guess is they don't actually place an order but hold the spot as one of the other posters mentioned. This way, when pricing, options and colors are known at the dealer level OP may be first in line to offically order and get his car vs. having 50 others ahead of him who placed a refundable deposit knowing they would decide options and colors at a later date.

Do we really believe people are going to be knocking down the doors to get the, wait for it, 2014 IS? There may be a flurry for a couple of weeks as the suckers pay full price to be the first kid on the block but these cars are not going to be flying out like hotcakes. Personally, I find the whole 'new' IS pretty much a yawn, it's not that special. Would seem to me the best bet is to wait until they come out, see what the options/colors are and go from there.
I am interested in buying another IS, but I am not interested if I have to pay a penny over $45,000 for a loaded IS350 F Sport. Hell you can buy a GS 350 F Sport for $57,000 and probably closer to $52K or $53K after you negotiate a smidge as to not be a sucker.
So with all that being said I am a taker for the new IS 350 F sport if I can get it out the door for $45,000 or $46,000. If not, then I will save my pennies and buy a new Honda Accord for Half the price and also get a new Toyota Tacoma. This way I can have a car and a truck for the price as a new IS.

It's all supply and demand, if the demand outpaces the supply, then prices will stay high, regardless of the economy...which is actually pretty strong when it comes to luxury car sales.

Most likely not as not all the information has been finalized. But with the current trend of the 2nd Gen IS and 3rd Gen IS interior and options...it doesn't take much to figure out what colors will come. We already know there will be Obsidian, Ultra White & Nebula Gray in F SPORT. Ultrasonic Blue, Silver, Red and etc are inevitable.
