Compare that with the 4th gen GS that donated the chassis for the new 3rd gen IS :
Length : 4580 (2IS) 4665 (3IS) 4850 (4GS)
Width : 1800 (2IS) 1810 (3IS) 1840 (4GS)
Height : 1415 (2IS) 1430 (3IS) 1455 (4GS)
Wheelbase : 2730 (2IS) 2800 (3IS) 2850 (4GS)
Included for interest the Infiniti Q50 dimensions :
Length : 4783
Width : 1824
Height : 1443
Wheelbase : 2850
Length : 4580 (2IS) 4665 (3IS) 4850 (4GS)
Width : 1800 (2IS) 1810 (3IS) 1840 (4GS)
Height : 1415 (2IS) 1430 (3IS) 1455 (4GS)
Wheelbase : 2730 (2IS) 2800 (3IS) 2850 (4GS)
Included for interest the Infiniti Q50 dimensions :
Length : 4783
Width : 1824
Height : 1443
Wheelbase : 2850
Length: 4635
With: 1811
Height: 1430
Wheelbase: 2809
So it looks like the 3IS is slightly more than an inch longer, has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the 335i, but practically identical width and height. Unladen curb weight on the 335i sedan is 3,545 lbs.

it was "20kg motor for motor" basically. So it should be less than 3600 for 350.

last night i found info about weight - it is extra 20kg, 45lbs basically. I forgot now where i found it, but it was a quote from head engineer about performance that ended up as explanation on how they tried everything to reduce weight of new model.

Latest Motortrend article is showing 3,700 lbs for curb weight. I hope it is wrong.

Furuyama-san claims his team “tried to reduce the weight as much as possible [with new IS], but engine to engine comparison, the new one is about 20kg heavier than the old one”.

Two sources confirm about 50 lbs. Thats awesome. I bet the 1/4 acceleration will be a bit better as the 8 speed should negate any penalty for weight at 50 lbs. Better rear seat room with no speed penalty = WIN!
I'm liking this car a lot now.
