I thought the Infiniti was a Beamer for a split second....almost come on Nissan, but whatever makes you happy bro, go for what you want. As stated before it is a Lexus forum so were partial to what we have, if you post this in an Infiniti forum you'll get a different result...

I dont care for the Infiniti at all. The grill looks weird. Really, the whole front does to me. On the other hand, the new IS is one of those cars I will need to see in person. Overall, I like it, but I dont love the new look. I actually think the regular IS models look the best (minus the taillights). The F-sport in this case is not my cup of tea.

Also the new Q50 is not a bad looking car and the interior is quite attractive and functional.
I like em both. When both available will make a decision with price being part of the equation.
Also Mercedes has a new entry; The CLA. Looks good from the pictures I've seen.

it seems very clear that the IS looks better.
However, the infiniti is full of new high tech features that blow away the IS. Again, lexus has fallen behind here. Is it just me, or are the brakes on the IS just plain small compared to the infiniti's?
Thanks for all the responses. More than likely, it will be the q for us

Problem is that Infiniti tends to overpromise on paper specs and under-deliver in practice. I was expecting lots based on the specs of the M37 S but was underwhelmed by my test drive. The individual parts sound good on paper but they don't seem to mesh together well in real life practice. Compare that to the GS which hardly trumpets its handling credentials (how often do you hear about the rear steering and VGRS???) yet the GS handily out-drives and out-handles the louder thirstier and slower M37S despite being down on power, gears and flashy big brakes.
If things run to form, expect the IS to be a far more complete and refined car despite the Q50 winning on paper specs and newer tech.
I for one will will be test-driving both before declaring one car a winner over the other. For the second biggest purchase after my home, I'd better do my due diligence first lol.

As the owner of a 4GS and a G37 Vert I am pretty unbiased. I would have to see the cars in person and test drive each of them before making a decision. I actually prefer the "mouse" controller in the Lexus to the iPad-type control in the Infiniti because it isn't as distracting as a touch pad and doesn't get all the fingerprints. Exterior-wise, they are apples to oranges. Both are attractive in their own way, although the Q50 takes more cues from other cars. The Q50 takes a lot of its design from the M37, which hasn't exactly been a hot seller, but then the design works better on a mid-market car than it does on Infniti's (current) flagship.
It will be interesting to see the coupe/convertible variants. That's what I'm interested in.
