Default Factory rims

I have a 2016 IS350 F Sport with GTS G505 rims. A year ago I had to replace one the rims as it got cracked due to a pot hole. Now I have 2 more rims that need to be replaced because they are warped....again due to pot holes. Are the factory rims stronger than aftermarket? I used my factory rims for my winter tires and now I am trying to decide if I should but two new GTS rims or buy a used set of OEM??

Not necessarily. Lexus outsources their OEM wheels to other companies like Enkei and BBS. I would buy whatever wheels (from any reputable brand) that you like the look of and fit your car.

The forged rims (BBS) are supposed to be stronger than the traditional alloy wheels. And, there are places that can repair warped / damaged rims so that's always an option.

The GTS G505 is a “flow forged” wheel. Not truly forged but stronger than cast. I believe OEM are forged (someone correct me if I’m wrong). I’m surprised nobody has asked if you got 18 or 19 and what size tire you’re running. Obviously if you upsized the wheel and therefore reduced the sidewall they’ll be more prone to damage from potholes. What to do now is up to you. Do you want OEM or aftermarket?

I am using the standard 18" staggered OEM factory tire sizes. The GTS rims are 18"x8". I have been using the GTS rims for 6 years and due to pot holes I had to replace 2 rims. My rims are no longer in production so I ordered the last two from the supplier which leaves me with 1 spare.

If OEM rims are stronger I may be more inclined to go back to OEM.

I have never seen anyone claim that the OEM F Sport wheels are forged. Are you talking about these, or something else?

I was talking about OEM wheels in general but a quick google search shows I was mistaken. Not sure where I heard that but it’s been a while. My bad.
