Hey guys! I am Still new to toyota world. I heard the weakness of the 3IS are :

- Waterpump
- Front timing cover leaks
- Ignition coils
- 5th cylinder overheat

My car is a 2019 IS 300 AWD with the 2GR-FKS with 72000km.

So the question regarding maintenance, How can I check these points. I am not a mechanic.

For the water pump tech told me to check for pink coolant leaks near the pump. It is clean for now.
How do I check the cover leaks ? Ignition coils ? Can you guys provide a picture of what and where to look at ?

Regarding the 5th cylinder overheat and thin wall I heard it was only on the 2GR-FSE, it is apprently solved on the 2GR-FKS is is true ?


And last, I see a lot of Tacoma 2GR-FKS engines fail... Even near 160000km. Why this engine fail on Tacoma (USA made) and it is so rare to find Lexus (Japan made) failed ones ?

I bought this car instead of BMW for better reliability. I am planning owning the car for 3 years. Should I worry about the engines fail like in the Tacoma ?
