Lightbulb Custom Infotainment ****

I was unhappy with the plastic infotainment **** being in stark contrast to the premium machined ***** for performance modes, volume and tuning.

I pulled it off, separating the cylindrical housing and the rotary componentry and very carefully measured it with a caliper.

I then created a 3D model in Sketchup and printed a prototype in ASA. Transplanted the rotary component into it to ensure fitment.

I ordered two in aluminium from Craftcloud.

Original vs. one of the two raw aluminium prints.

Modeled and printed an attachment in ASA that screws to one of the aluminium *****, and put it on my drill press. I put the drill press on its side and used it as a sort of lathe, and was able to reach a machined-ish finish with sandpaper.

I am sure that if I had a lathe, I could achieve a better finish, but I am content.
