Auto start/enform not working

Default Auto start/enform not working

So I bought a 2020 Is300 F sport and added the enform subscription so I can use the auto start feature from my Fob. After adding it and driving it for 15minutes I was still unable to start the car with the remote and with the (Apple) Enform app.

When I try to start I get an error saying contact dealer with code E0

when I try to lock the car or unlock the car the app says contact dealer with an error code 42

i am able to turn the hazard lights on via the app

after a visit to the dealership he said the car definitely has auto start because the hazards are flashing when hitting the fob three times. Then I was told that it could be one of the ECUs.
they had found a low battery code once but said that must’ve been from a previous dead battery as the battery is fine now and tested functional.

they told me they can replace one of the ECUs for around $2500 and that might not fix it. They would then need to replace another ECU for around the same price if the first one didn’t resolve it. This would involve tearing apart the dash and of course everything doesn’t go back together the same as when it comes factory so I said no. Especially because of the price that wouldn’t completely guarantee a fix.

I feel like there has to be a better way to resolve this. He told me it could’ve gone dormant from not being used for a long time and now the only way they can fix it is by replacing it completely. I don’t understand because how does a car with a 50,000 miles in mint condition require a new ECU when everything else works perfectly fine.

please let me know if anyone has ran into the same issue.
of course I’ve tried deleting the app and making sure it’s up to date and when I hit the Save Our Souls button in the car they sent me two different codes to help refresh the system. They saw no issues on their end minus the code E0 & 42.

please help!

Your issue is with DCM provisioning or firmware, most likely. The DCM is basically a cell phone without a screen they put inside a box and slap a backup battery onto, that phones home and handles the telematics.

Could be something as simple as a DCM firmware update. DCMs from 2019-2022 were notoriously buggy in both toyota and lexus cars. Not all cars use the same DCM. There are numerous service bulletins out for those cars that describe odd, erratic, unexplainable behavior like this and the solution is always "DCM Firmware Update". It takes the dealer less than 30mins to do and they can do it from the OBD port with Techstream.

If the DCM module needs to be physically replaced, they don't have to pull the entire dash. Instead they remove a few trim pieces around the stereo, and remove the stereo assembly, which contains the DCM bolted onto the back, (in this model).
The fact that they don't know this means they are ignorant and/or lazy. Probably hoping you give up and scare you off.

Basically, there is a small chance this could be easily fixed, but nobody knows, and the dealer tech is the only one that can do it. Normally they will only bother if they are pursuing a warranty recall/TSB which has step by step instructions. So either you need to find a specific TSB that applies to YOUR car, or convince them to try it anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I completely thought the same about updating the DCM! I’ll have to find another dealer willing to do it or something

Perhaps it’s a firmware update type fix.
