Hello Group:
I bought my vehicle from a dealer in 2018 lexus is 350 fsport. I was looking to trade it in for a newer model. A carfax report was not offered with the vehicle.
She was beautiful then and is still beautiful now. As a starting point they ran a carfax report on it. and came back to tell me the vehicle had rear end moderate damage before i bought the car. So my asking price dropped out of the margin of viable negotiations. Is there any recourse now that the car is paid off from several ears ago.
I feel duped by a so called reputable dealer...any thoughts
Not really unless you can prove they intentionally deceived you. As in you specifically asked about any prior damage, they said no, and you can prove they knew. Dealers are not required to provide a carfax/history. And even when they do, it's not uncommon for things to take months to show up on it. IE a car can be crashed, repaired, and sold to someone else; who owns the car for a few months before it shows up on the report. If it's good body work, or they were not so matriculate they might not have even known.
