regarding shift points in manual mode
I have the 2022 IS350 model. In manual mode, I don't mind the car still shifts itself when the traction control on, but the shift from 1st to 2nd is often time jerky(there are times the shift from 1st to 2nd is smooth). Do you all have this issue? I'm just wondering how to reduce the jerky automatic shifts in manual mode. Thanks.

(Also, the IS 500 has a sprag gear that smooths out the 1-2 gear shift, and if anything, in my experience, it is smoother than the 2-3 shift.)
However, yes, in either car, the trans performs way more smoothly when at operating temp (after about 15 minutes of driving on average).
So i know what you are talking about as it has happened to me in my IS350. The so called fuel cut and automatic upshift is almost like a rev limiter and fail safe so you dont blow your transmission. Not saying its impossible to grenade your transmission but its just a safety feature. I've seen some people buy a ECU tuner/flasher that allows them to go way past the limiter.
