I’m considering getting rid of my 4Runner, but am having trouble deciding if I was to replace it with a GX or if it’s time to go to a car. That’s where the IS question comes into play. Up to 2020 year model is my preferred price range, but the 2021+ models look so damn good. Other than aesthetics, all of the specs seems to be the same. Anyone with first hand experience who can say if there is any noticeable difference in the way a 2020 and a 2021 drives? I’m looking for a good excuse to go 2021+.
I think the most notable difference between my 2016 IS 300 and my 2021 IS 350 was the ride. I think the 2021+ cars in general ride a lot better than the 2014-2016, at least. I have test-driven a 2018, but I don't really remember how it rode to be honest. Anyway, beside that, the 2021 and up get a touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and some other small interior updates, like new gauges in the F Sport models.
It's basically the same car otherwise, but I think the nicer infotainment situation and updated suspension are pretty good reasons to go 2021+. I think they still ultimately feel very similar on the road, though.
