Hey guys!
I have finally received my 1J7 IS350 F sport3 after waiting for almost a year! what a nice car, it makes me want to keep driving. lol.
however, upon arriving at the dealership to pick up my brand new car, i noticed something on the qtr panel. I showed it to the sales person and I was offered two solutions. Either take $600 cash and fix it myself or have the dealership respray the panel. What do you guys suggest? The scratch or gouge is right on the character which is right next to the rear headlights . I wanted to walk away from the sale but we needed a car and couldn't return empty handed.
thanks

Hey, congrats on the new whip!
Do you have a photo? I am not seeing one here... not sure if you meant to post one. Thanks.
Personally, I'd prefer if you could get an estimate for the work and then have the dealer give you the money. As someone who just had his quarter panel fixed, I will tell you right now $600 would be the bare-minimum, cheapest fix possible, if at all. My insurance covered it, but it was over $2 grand to have a dent pulled and have it resprayed and blended.
Thank you for replying to my question, I'm attaching a picture of the defect. I believe this may of happened during shipping or at the dealership. I'm considering using a touch up pen to resolve the issue. respraying the panel seems like it might lead to further problems in the future, such as colour match and paint peeling once the car is old. I wish the dealership would've offered me more than $600 since I pointed it out before even taking delivery.

I'd say respraying is probably overkill, yeah. Touch-up paint should be fine.
Take the $600, then buy a Chipfixx kit and try to use it to get as smooth of a paint repair as possible. It works quite well, but will never be perfect. Did you get your car from Heffner?
