Look at (and listen to) what is behind the speaker grill in the center (top) of the dashboard. A Mark Levinson equipped car would have come from the factory with a real functioning center channel speaker there, one with the base audio system wouldn't.
Of course since that audio system has modified with aftermarket components, it's less important what it originally came with, and a better question might be "do you like the way it sounds"?

Thanks for coming back to me. I'm in New Zealand currently and we're in lockdown so cannot physically view the car yet. Is there anything else I can ask the dealer in the interim to check?

A dealer is selling an ISF for an 08 ISF with an aftermarket (black) headunit.

Look about here or fleabay and find an ML code.. ask the dealer what the code is... ML may have the actual words written here too. Ask!
You must have missed the part where he said it has an aftermarket headunit. If it still had the original, he could look for the Mark Levinson logo, try to play a DVD video, or look at the code on the unit. Since it doesn't, we need to be a bit more creative, hence my earlier suggestions.
