I installed new TPMS on a set of new wheels. My question is do i have to visit a dealer in order to have to new ID numbers registered to the car. I do have a Autel MaxiTPMS TS401 but i am not sure if i can use it to register the new TPMS to the car.
Your Autel should give you the ID number for the new TPMS sensor.
You will need Techstream to program the new sensor in OR you can upgrade your Autel to the 508 series to be able to do the programing.
If you dont have either, take your car to a tire center or dealer to get it programed.
With the TS501, you can clear the old id from the memory, and relearn the new tpms.
Thanks and after reading you are correct. In order to write the new id codes the the cars ecu. stand by if i need your held i will be sending the 401 back

Way off topic but somewhat worthy of sharing is this:
Although the OBD app Fusion when coupled with the Lexus / Toyota PID pack gives us tons of data about the engine and trans, here it falls short as it does not populate tire pressure, tire temperature, or tire sensor ID.
As seen, some AC items tested, did not populate in OBD Fusion either.
As for the 3 pressure entries, Fusion offers, none worked for the ID tested. When selected it pops up as inHg, PSI, ahh, something else... here, just inHg.
I do not recommend buying knock off cable or Techstream off Amazon or Ebay. However, its your choice/risk you want to take. For Techstream, you can do 2-day subscription for $20 and use a cable of your choice (knock off or authorized) to connect. Whatever you do, think twice before you use a knock off cable to program your ECUs, just saying.
