Default IS350 Redline

Hey guys/gals, I have a question as it relates to the redline on stock 06-13 IS350s. Weird thing happened yesterday wherein I floored my 06 IS350 to get around a vehicle and it went over the 6500 rpm, it appeared to shift at 6750-6800. I have never seen this happen before, is that normal? Or is something wrong?

I’ve had tire spin when passing another car that brought it right into rev limit. Quite quickly with no time to react and let off the throttle.

so while this happened you went past 6500 rpm? And into the red?

Can confirm another has done this too. And with increased limit. It had to be close to 7,400.

OP, unless you bust a valve spring out of the blue, it should be fine...

Thanks for the replies and info. I appreciate it. What is our rev limit set at? I know the redline is 6500 but that doesn’t always mean rev limit.

do you know? I noticed yesterday while experimenting I set the orange ring on the tach and tried to see how far it would go and I noted it let me go all the way to 6700 but would not go past that. I was surprised considering the redline on the gauge is 6500

I have a 2009 is250 awd not sure if it’s the same with rev limit but when I was stock (rr tune now ) it was 6800. With tune its 7200 at redline I can say I bounce off it a couple times a week lol.
