Default Pulling out steering wheel

To remove the steering wheel on the IS250, i understand you have to loosen the nut a little then pull and yank at it until it breaks loose then take the nut out. Question, is all that yanking and pulling safe for the rod that the steering wheel goes and sits into? While I was pulling mine at one point i felt like a little movement if i pull and the same movement if I push back in. It's almost like a click but it didn't break loose. eventually carried on yanking it and it broke loose. Just wondering what the other movement was? It was very very slight if i pull hard it would like click and then if i push in hard it would click again

I think its just the tad of wiggle room on the splines. Steering wheel is not that thick material on the wheel itself.

so yanking and pulling at it with force shouldn't pull anything out or break anything?

Make sure all wiring is disconnected properly.
