Default New Here, Really Interested in Buying

So, long story - short: I had a 2012 Genesis until somebody ran a red light a couple weeks back and totaled it. Luckily nobody was seriously hurt and for better or worse, I'm starting with a clean slate now that insurance has paid my car off. I've been looking around for IS 350's, and while there doesn't seem to be many in my area to choose from thus far, I found a couple of examples I was curious about:

2011 w/ 110k miles for $13.8k
2012 w/115k miles for $15k

I'm new to this lineup so I don't have much to go on as far as pricing and such, though other models that I have looked at seem to run higher near me (NC - triad area) unfortunately.

Any input, insight, or advice on looking/potentially buying would be greatly appreciated!

Both are good years, and decent mileage. Check their maintenance history by using their VIN's on the Lexus website, as well as Carfax for any accidents, clean title etc. As long as they were maintained regularly, engine and trans will give you years of happiness. Over 100k things like water pump should be changed (if not already done during 100k maintenance). Also check suspension, boots, rotors, differential. We have people on this forum that are over 200k and engines are still going strong

I am also in NC in the Triangle, I had an 07 IS350 that also got hit by these wonderful drivers . I am also looking for a 2011-2013 IS350 but I think I just got lucky and found a 2011 (picking it up Friday) If the 2012 you're talking about is Burgundy, I have already test drove that and it's a quality car! Really good sales people too. I just didn't get it because I found the one I just put a deposit down for. Feel free to PM me if you want.

You really can't go wrong with any year, but my preference if I was in the market for a 2nd Gen the sweet spot would be 2010 thru 2013. The reason is they fixed a lot of the quirky stuff by 2010, the "Stick Dash" extended warranty is still covered (2010 models it ends this year), starting 2010 they use an E-LSD (not to be mistaken with a true locking LSD), and you will find these years with the lowest miles. I've wanted an IS350 for a long time, but I could not find a low mileage (50K to 80K) under $30K, at least in my area. In September of last year I found my current 2010 IS350 Sport that had only 52K on it and one owner who was selling it for $19K who took great of it. So I jumped on it and sold my 2018 Civic Si a few days later!

I would say it depends on what type of accident, how bad, and where it was repaired (repair shop). For example around December I was coming home from a trip from SoCal, and someone rear ended me. The damage was mainly the bumper cover and the foam material. It turned out to be a blessing because when I bought my IS350 everything was perfect about the car except there was a huge scratch...yes, on the rear bumper cover! I was planning on having it repaired and repainted, but I ended up getting a brand new OEM bumper cover (it came from Lexus of Stevens Creek), all the repair work was done by Caliber Collision, which gave me a lifetime warranty on the bumper cover, paint and work.

So if it was just a minor accident with only some superficial damage and was repaired by a reputable body shop, than its worth looking into. Of course if it was extensive enough where airbags were deployed, major work needing to be done, than yes I would probably move on
