Any big problems with the 06 IS 350's?
I'm looking to buy a 2006 IS 350 with around 88k miles, I would be the 4th owner and I'm wondering if there is any significant problems with this year. I've heard things about them leaking oil aswell as the water pumped needing replaced. Are the 06-09's reliable? Or do you think i should just spend a couple grand more on the 2010-12 model? Any personal experience or knowledge on these vehicles is appreciated, just don't need another money pit

spend a couple of grand more and get the newer model. it's (almost) always better to get the newer model (save for collectibles and this vehicle is not) as its components have less wear and tear and degradation on them. also, you'll be the fourth owner of the car you mentioned and it may have been driven responsibly and the maintenance may have been done on time - or it may not have been driven responsibly and the maintenance may not have been done properly. the maintenance should be an easy check via carfax or by using the lexus owners maintenance history tool, but you really have no idea how the three previous owners treated/drove the car.
i'd get the newer model.
also, this should be posted in the 2IS sub-forum for other members to comment on.

88K is like a teen in Lexus years! Create an account on lexus.com and check the VIN to see all service records and if recalls were all addressed. One big thing would be the "Sticky Dash" issue, make sure that was addressed because every year until 2009 the extended warranty is expired, the 2010 models the extended warranty expires this year (I had my dashboard replaced in January). That's pretty low mileage for a Lexus, but personally, and this is just me, I would rather spend a bit more money and get a low mileage 2010 and on, but again this is my daily driver I plan to keep for a long time, so that is what I would do. You definitely won't go wrong with 2006 and on if the car was properly maintained and not abused and if all recalls and issues were addressed. They are great cars, any year

Oh man, that's just barely broken in! I bought my 2010 IS350 Sport last September with 52K on it, now it has a bit over 62K. It looks almost new, and drives like new. Lexus is a car that you buy used, let someone else break it in and depreciate it for you. Even if you buy it 10 years old, it's going to easily give you another 10 years
