I have a quick question about this.
This Friday I found out that my car is completely dead. Nothing turns on. Had to mechanically unlock the door.
It wasn't used for about 10 days. Granted it's winter but it wasnt extremely cold (I think the lowest was -5c) and before it always started even in much colder weather.
The battery voltage shows 2.4v. I guess this means that I need to replace the battery.
Did the broken alternator break my battery or did it get worn out by time? It's about 3.5 years old.

Install a new battery and then drive to somewhere that can test your alternator. Cross your fingers that it was just the battery.

Use a multi-meter and see what the voltage is across the Terminal. A good battery should give you more than 13+ Volts. If below 12 Volts, battery is out, how old is your battery do you know?
