Default Plug melted.. nearly caught fire.

Car is a 2008 Is250. Has anyone ever experienced this issue? Plug completely melted, and started melting the fan, with a lovely fire smell. Anyway to just replace the plug, or think I'll need a whole new fan etc? Extremely baffled by the whole thing, a quick, routine grocery store trip, to get out of my car smelling fire, and seeing smoke coming from under the hood... thanks. *Recently, maybe 2500ish miles or so replaced the fan by a buddy, but is a very competent mechanic.. not sure if that matters*

Looks like it was drawing too much current. Could be a defective fan, or maybe wasn't plugged in all the way. Was it a new/used OEM fan, or aftermarket?

I don't know if those harnesses are sold by Lexus, so you may need to go to a junkyard and cut one off.

They draw a lot of current. A bad connection has resistance. Resistance makes heat when current flows. Perhaps the warmer temps kept it on longer than usual since the repair thus melting the connector.

Do not solder any of these connections. Use the best quality crimps and tools you can find. I would use as much/many of oem harness quality as possible and head the current warnings.

Hey Zmon, it was a new aftermarket fan.
