2007 IS250 Engine Mount Replacement Help Needed.
Hi,
I was about to replace the engine mounts and transmission mount for my 2007 Lexus IS250. I was looking at the engine mounts location and I couldn't quite figure out how to get the top side of the bolt taken out (one connected to the engine). I've done engine mount replacements for my 2004 Acura MDX and 1998 Lexus LS400 so I'm familiar with basic process but I got stuck on this one. I was told I don't need to drop the subframe but I can't seem to figure out how I take the top bolt and to try to take out the engine mount, especially the driver side where steering column is somewhat blocking the engine mount. I did my usual search and I saw few questions but nothing posted in terms of how to. I also checked my Lexus service manual (the one mechanics use with 5 big bound books) and that didn't really specify.
Anyone can give me advice? Thanks in advance.

Hello, did you ever replace the engine mounts on the IS250? I planning on doing my IS250 also. I did a Mercedes c230 before and the top bolt was also hard to get to so there is a special tool, Mercedes Engine Mount Tool - Baum 00100169, which makes it much easier. I could not find a tool like that for our cars. Also from what I can see there is access to the top bolt on the driver’s side from the top if you have a long extension and possibly a swivel attachment.

I replaced my engine mounts last week. It made a huge difference as far as engine vibrations. The car feels really smooth when I start the car. Also before there was a lot of vibration when the car was stopped and in Drive. The vibration is almost non existent now. I noticed that Toyota changed the design of the engine mounts and it is a noticeable improvement.
I supported my engine with two bottle jacks and a piece of plywood. Then I lowered the subframe to remove my front differential which was leaking. For the top bolt on the drivers side I used an extension and a swivel socket to remove it. I think it was 17 or 19 mm. And for the passenger side I removed the bracket that the engine mount attaches to. The exhaust manifold blocks the top bolt on the passenger side. The bracket is pretty easy to remove from under the car. It is bolted to engine by 4 bolts. 3 of the bolts are visible from under the car. The 4th bolt I could feel it but could not see it but it was still easy to get a socket on it. One of the bolts is longer than the other three and cannot be removed completely from the bracket but it will come out of the engine.
Also I’m not sure if you need to lower the subframe but I already had it down. You may be able to jack up the engine however I cannot confirm that because the bolts in the bottom of the engine mounts are kinda long.

Thanks for the walkthrough @LexKong , I'm gonna attempt this in a week or so.
When you say the mounts have been 'improved', did you buy a totally new part number? Or do you mean that Lexus improved the same original part?

I have not tackled this project personally (though likely will need to in the near future, as i too feel the increased vibrations). I scoured youtube and found these 3 DIY videos. Posting here in case they help someone else with this project in the future. They cover the engine mounts (2) and transmission mount (1) replacement.
