Visual Engine differences between IS250-IS350 (06-13)
Hey guys question, besides the obvious that one is a 2.5L and the other is a 3.5L. What are the VISUAL differences (if any) engine-wise between the 06-13 IS series? Just curious about engine-wise not exterior or interior, please.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Noted this between my '06 IS350 and a friend's '13 IS250, but the main engine cover is black on the 250 versus silver on the 350 (not sure if this varies from year to year). The intake manifold also takes considerably more space on the 250.
As was stated, black vs. silver engine cover (same for all years), intake manifold and port injection fuel lines, rails and injectors. Beyond that, the engines are basically identical. (IS250 has 4GR block stamping, IS350 has 2GR).

Hard to see until you go looking but the 4GR lower intake manifold has a butterfly assembly that the 2GR does not.
It's function is to increase low rpm torque.
The upper intake on the 4GR also has a cold start fuel injector the 2GR does not. As noted the 2GR is a D4S design while the 4GR is DI only.
