Anyone have any pointers or tips to replace one on a 08 IS250 AWD? I came across a video where it seemed like you remove the caliper/rotor then zip the axe nut off, unbolt the 4 bolts holding the wheel bearing on and that's it?
Is a new axle nut required when reassembling? Anyone know the torque spec of the axle nut?
buy yourself a good swivel allen head socket, preferably long. not sure the size exactly. makes a night and day difference when replacing on the car.
if done on the vehicle just make sure to remove the wheel speed sensor prior to removal of bearing. also you may end up fighting this dust ring, just make sure it goes on evenly during install. I do recommend a new axle nut(make sure to stake it after torqued down)

Picking up a axle nut from Touota today after work and picked up a 32mm 12pt from Autozone at lunch. Not sure if I need a deep socket or not but we will find out. I’ll return it if I do.
Plan is to start spaying suspension parts tonignt and to see what I have in terms of sockets/extensions to get arround the axle boot to access the bearing bolts.
Sounds like a plan. Last time I was doing rear brakes I wire wheeled tje theeads since they were a little rusty. I then slapped some silver anti sieze paste on them.
Found out tonight that the rear axle nut IS a 32mm 12pt nut (socket I bought confirmed this). BUT the nut I bought PN 9008017238 is wrong, and is smaller than a 32mm nut which I believe to be a FRONT axle nut.
Also that the 4 bolts holding the bearing in are T55...I need to find the equivalent allen socket size since I'd be afraid to strip the socket or bolt.
Another update, a T55 torx bit looks to be a 10mm allen wrench. I found a PN 9017726001 for the rear axle nut. Local Toyota dealer doesn’t even see that PN in their system so I need to get with a Lexus dealer to confirm.

This wheel bearing will not come out...this car has excessive amounts of corrosion and everything fights me. Wheels speed sensor broke off, all bolts came out of the arms in the back except for one, keeping me from removing the knuckle assembly all together and trying to beat the bearing out. I'm trying to put a punch in the middle of the allen head bolts and hit it with a 5lb hammer but still nothing.
I like the car, but I HATE working on the damn thing.
Update,
Bearing is out by using the 4 bolts to hammer it out. I think the ABS sensor dust ring rotated and cut into the ABS sensor making it quite difficult to remove PLUS it was seized in the aluminum hub. Only way i got it out was by drilling it out and utterly destroying it. AAAAAND now I need a new sensor which Autozone has them for $218, Rock Auto is the cheapest at $98. WTF Lexus....ONE sensor?!
New $12 sensor came in from carports dot com using their "Replacement Brand" sensor. Fit perfectly and a quick test drive confirms it is working (no ABS warning issue etc). We will see how long it lasts back there. I won't be surprised if it acts up down the road, but my wife needed the car up and running. So far so good.
Oh and that ABS sensor dust ring is a PITA to deal with LOL.
Thanks. I'm praying the other rear bearing doesn't go out. But like anything else, once you do it once I could do it again in half the time.
I'll be happier than a pig in ***** if the sensor holds up for at least a year. From a quality standpoint it LOOKS the same as the original...well the pieces I had left of the original LOL.
as long as you tightened all the bolts torqued the wheel bearing nut and staked it and no noise you should be good. Just look it over again after a few hundred miles .
