2012 IS250 Pioneer Amp Question
I know a lot of people have issues with their audio amplifier dying. My wifes car has had this happen on 2 separate amps. The dealership replaced it about a year ago(or said they did) and the no sound issue has returned.Hers will reset though if you unplug the power at the back of the amplifier. I found a thread saying that the pressure vent in the rear panel can degrade and let water get into the compartment with the amp. The pressure vent seems to be in good shape but I found some leaves in the compartment so their is a way in for the leaves and moisture as well. I pulled hers out the other day and their was a fair amount of corrosion on one of the mounting surfaces. I cleaned it up and re-installed but the issue still comes back. I am thinking of buying a used unit on eBay. The one listed is for a car with NAV. My wifes car does not have NAV. Will that unit still work in her car? I'd also be interested to know what a shop would replace if they were fixing this issue. It is almost like there is a fusible link or a protection circuit because when i remove power for even a second, it comes back on. Or does that indicate that there is an issue with intermittant grounding on a speaker or somewhere else?
Thanks in advance,
